Hi, A few months ago my near side rear anti roll bar bracket rusted out and snapped, I tried sourcing one form the stealers but with no luck whatsoever! They just laughed and said wow coupe still going then! Yep 230K miles old and doing fine thanks! Tool!

Anyway I tried making some which held for a bit but again has snapped, the MOT is approaching so better get it fixed, soooooo I'm reaching out on this wanted thread in the hope that someone out there may have a spare or is braking a coupe down and i could buy one?

The part number is [5172 41 - BEARING CLAMP] and it looks like the high-lighted part in the attached piccy.

Many thanks in advance if anyone can help!
Cheers

Are you the same person that's been posting on FB about them? If not have a search as they say they've found someone that will make them.

Sorry, no joy: had a bit of a trawl online for you,

https://www.406oc.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=25493 same problem from a couple of years back.

Autodoc lists the front ones (£3.43 each. item number V22-0641) but they hook under one end and bolt the other (vs 2 bolt fixing on the rear so not very close to try and adapt)

The ones you made but snapped = same again but a bit thicker steel? Would think a strip of flat bar would be ok, standard clamp looks to loop around but unsure if roll bar bush would work it's way out in use or not??

Hi, no not me - but I'll have a look on FB then if someone could make one that'd be great. It's a tricky shape to make at home especially as it needs the side capture flanges to retain the ARB bush otherwise the torsion slips it out of a bush strap made from flat steel bar.

Fun and games of running car thats out of parts support eh!

Hi thanks for the link, but yeah flat bar works but as you say the bush works it way out from the ARB torsion. I made a V2 of the clamp with the side capture flanges it was a nightmare to make, but broke again that was with 1mm steel so it was easier to work with.

I think if I get no luck then I'll have to try with thicker steel, but it just becomes an utter bug*er to work with to achieve the fairly tight the bend radiuses! You can see why mold presses are so useful!

Cheers.

These clamps are exposed and rust so they don't last forever. This is the problem with second hand ones but you might be lucky so try Ade or his son Ryan at BB Autos 01246 261110 and tell them you're on the Coupe Club forum.

Hi, OK nice one thanks! I'll give BB autos a shot then. Hoping i can find a pretty decent condition one then get it powder coated so it'll last the test of time! I'd do the offside one too but the fuel tanks in the way and looking at the bolts and straps on that it looks like a world of hurt disturbing that lot lol! To be fair though the offside clamp is in a lot better condition probably because its away from the puddles and muck at the side of the road?!

Thanks for the contact number! Much appreciated :good:

Marco Verkroost was the guy on FB in the 406 Coupe group that was looking at getting them remade.

We really need to get the 23mm bushes made too.

Oh ok cool, thanks. Interestingly i managed to find a supplier of the bushes no problem from the Netherlands as when my bracket snapped the bush was so perished it fell off - so got a couple of new ones for very reasonable money! Just seems the actual clamps are rare as rocking horse....

Check them when they arrive - a lot that are sold as 23mm are actually 22mm ( ie not for V6 or HDi)

If they really are 23mm then pm me with your contact!

Hi, I've already ordered and fitted the one to my nearside - it fitted perfectly so assume it is the correct size for the ARB as it closes around it completely.

Scouring back through emails I actually ordered it from Autodoc.co.uk (article number PE-SB-6783) and only £4.30 each bargain! The Netherlands chap was my non successful search from brackets I got that mixed up earlier.

Cheers
Lee.

Had a quick look and intended to add to my "favourites" and add a pair on next order. Currently PE-SB-6783 ("MOOG bearing bush, stabiliser" EAN 4044197474240) is £7.11 - 27% = £5.19 each, so would be worth waiting for the next 41% "never to be repeated" discount (some time in the next 7 days pretty much guaranteed! Monday's usually) to get it cheaper still.

However, Autodoc's data states:
"stabiliser bar diameter [mm] 22"
then two lines down
"Diameter [mm] 21.5"

There's also SASIC Anti Roll bar bush (article number 1725435. EAM 3660872304582) £6.92 - 27% = £5.05 each currently
states:
inner diameter [mm] 22
stabiliser bar diameter [mm]] 23.5"

So, who knows really!! :D

I feel the 22 mm will squeeze around the anti roll and grip like a limpet anyway and would be a darn sight more worried about putting 23mm bushes in a 22mm setup! :friends:
