Post subject: | Long term loan of a D8.5 Polaris V6 Auto |
Story time Some of you might remember this Coupe from the project thread: Project Thread https://www.406coupeclub.org/PHPBB3/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=55377. It’s a 1999 D8.5 in Polaris Blue, with the familiar ES9J4 3.0L V6 and automatic gearbox. Odometer is around 108,000 miles. It’s had a lot of the right things done over the years: suspension, brakes, some engine mounts, several gearbox oil changes, a Tatswitch, and even an Android head unit. It was in decent health when last on the road. The situation Life shifted, and the Coupe had to be moved from dry storage into a field. It’s now been sitting there, unused and exposed to the weather, for about a year. I haven’t been able to check on it in six months. The car is currently SORN’d, and not MOT’d. Here’s where I’m at: I’d like to offer it on a long-term loan, but only if someone genuinely wants to get involved. If there’s no interest, I can’t justify putting time and money into recovering and prepping a car that’ll just go back to sitting in a field. If you are interested, I’d:
Take steps to get it roadworthy again (MOT, essential maintenance) Hand it over on the basis that you’d insure, tax, maintain, and enjoy it Expect it to be kept largely original and looked after, not modified or run into the ground In return, you’d get a chance to live with a Coupe—perfect if you’re not quite ready to buy one, or you’ve had one in the past and want to reconnect without the up-front ownership. Also ideal for someone whose own Coupe is off the road after an engine failure, fire, or terminal rust. Things to be aware of:
Passenger door locking is temperamental Check-straps are a bit past their best That said, it's a solid car at heart, and with the right care, there's no reason it can't be a great daily or project again. If you're curious, interested, or just want to talk it through, feel free to message me. If someone’s up for it, I’ll do my part to get it ready. If not, it’ll remain where it is for now. Cheers, Rupert |
