I had been looking for those in good condition for ages until I gave up and had some resprayed for 20 €. Tell your painter to match them to the metal part that usually ages much better colour-wise.

The trick is to take them off without damaging them.

It really helps getting a set of old mirrors and take your time getting them off - also as a preparation for putting them on since you can take apart the mirror further than on the car.

would be easiest getting them painted, the wing mirrors came in two colours (one shade quite a bit darker than the other) and on top of that the paint can fade on them quite a bit.

My '03 had Granite wing mirror covers. My '99 had Cosmos. Just cannot remember what colour the '01 had. but you could use either colour. Pininfarina intended that the colour of the mirrors blended them into the window aperture rather than colour code them to make them visually stand out.
